How does the Speed Demon know the speed limit of the road it is on?
The Speed Demon does not know the speed limits on any roads. The parent sets their own speed limits for secondary roads and for highways. The patent pending software then determines if the vehicle is operating within the parent’s defined limits.
Do I need a professional installer to install my Speed Demon?
No, the Speed Demon is designed to be user installable. You just stick the Speed Demon to an interior surface and plug it into either the car dashboard power plug or the OBD under dash plug. Most installations take less than 10 minutes.
Where should I install the Speed Demon in the car?
The Speed Demon can be mounted to any surface inside the vehicle. You simply remove the backing from the very high bond tape on the back of the Speed Demon and press it securely onto the location you have selected. This is a permanent installation, once you remove the Speed Demon the tape will no longer adhere properly. See the installation guide for more details. Ensure that you DO NOT mount the Speed Demon on any surface that is covering an Airbag.
What is the OBD plug?
OBD stands for Onboard Diagnostic Port. The OBD plug is on all vehicles in the United States manufactured since 1996. What if my car’s dashboard power port is switched by the ignition?
The Speed Demon requires a continuous power source. The Speed Demon OBD power adaptor plugs in underneath the dashboard, provides continuous power and is recommended for all installations.
What if my car’s power port is used by another device, like a cell phone charger?
The Speed Demon OBD power adaptor plugs in underneath the dashboard, provides continuous power to the Speed Demon and is recommended for all installations.
What if my teen unplugs the Speed Demon?
The Speed Demon has an internal backup battery that will keep the unit operating normally for several days if unplugged. If the Speed Demon is unplugged, a power disconnect message is sent and is logged in your account.
Will the Speed Demon drain my car’s battery?
The Speed Demon has advanced power management and motion detection. The Speed Demon wakes up and starts monitoring whenever it detects vehicle motion. The Speed Demon also wakes up once an hour to check for messages from your account.
If you are going to leave the vehicle idle for an extended period of time, you can enable the power button from the user configuration page and then shut off the Speed Demon using the power button on the unit. The Speed Demon will send a power down message to your account to remind you that the unit is shut off. When the Speed Demon is powered down using the power button, it does not wake up on motion detection, you must power up the Speed Demon by pressing the power button again.
Can I shut my Speed Demon off if the car is going to be idle for an extended period of time?

How do I change the settings on my Speed Demon?
The parent signs in to their secure, private account at www.livefastdriveslow.com and sets the driving rules. All settings are then sent over the air to the Speed Demon mounted in the vehicle. The settings in Speed Demon memory cannot be erased by unplugging or powering down the unit.
Can I use a Speed Demon without an internet account?
No, you must have access to the internet to see your user account.
How can I tell if my Speed Demon is operating properly?
The Speed Demon sends a daily status message to your account, which you will see in the message list when you sign in. To insure teen privacy, the status message does not contain location or speed information. If the status message from the Speed Demon in your vehicle is not received on schedule, a system malfunction message is logged to your account and sent to the contacts list.

What happens if my car frequently goes in and out of T-Mobile Coverage?
The Speed Demon can store hundreds of messages and will send them when coverage is restored. The messages in Speed Demon memory cannot be erased by unplugging or powering down the unit.
What browsers are supported?
All current browsers are supported. The only known limitation is that Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 6.0 and earlier are not supported.
Is there an activation fee, minimum length of service agreement or early termination fee?
No, but there is a monthly $14.99 service fee. You can cancel your service at any time.
